I awoke this morning thinking about POTENTIAL. More specifically, “Am I living up to my potential?”
What a question to wake up to, right? (“Yeah, well… good morning to you, too, Sunshine!”)
On the surface, it’s easy to say, “I could be doing MUCH better.” This is an easy statement to make when I’m looking at any one particular area of my life. But life isn’t made up of any one particular area. It’s made up of many parts. And the parts cross over and affect each of the other parts.
Sometimes the different parts of life enhance other areas of life, like when I have a win in Business, the family might celebrate. Or when Faith and Family come together for a great Sunday dinner. And yet other times, Family might take me away from my Business and I don’t finish a to-do list.
So when we look at our potential at any one area of life, it’s easy to think, “No… I’m definately NOT living up to my potential.” But because there’re different demands from life at different times (even within the same day), we would do well to look at our overall picture. And then breathe. And breathe again.
Sure, most of us can improve. But if we’re honest, hardworking individuals, we’re likely dealing with a lot of stuff (I try to keep my thoughts compartmentalized into Faith, Family, and Business just to make things easier on the soul).
So when you think, “My business could be better,” or, “I should be spending more time with my spouse or kids,” go easy on yourself. Sure, you’ve got a lot of potential, AND… you’ve got a lot going on.
May you go forward in peace, today.
